IT could well feel like Christmas all year round for postmen in and around Redditch, Bromsgrove and Droitwich after the Royal Mail revealed that the Midlands boasts the most festive street names of anywhere in the UK.

Bromsgrove has its own Carol Avenue as well as Merriemont Drive and Berry Drive in Barnt Green, while Redditch sports a Snowshill Close, and Robins Lane. Droitwich has the Berry Hill estate, along with a Holly Close, and St Nicholas Street. However a postie would have to go all the way from Redditch to Kidderminster to take in Partridge Lane Road, and Pear Tree Close in one route.

Steve Rooney, head of Royal Mail’s Address Management Unit, said: “We decided to find out how well Christmas themes were represented on street names. The team came up with a number of words closely linked to Christmas, drew up a shortlist and began to investigate. We found the Christmas theme was very well represented and we had a lot of fun doing it.”
