PEOPLE of Wyre Forest are invited to go “Into the Woods” for an event organised by the Friends of Bishops Wood.

Inspired by the newly released Disney film, the U3A storytellers will be telling the traditional tales of Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk, on which the film is based. Along with sensory woodland earthwalks, tree trails and crafts, this will make a great afternoon out for families.

The event is on Sunday, February 8, from 2pm to 4pm, in the 70-acre woodland surrounding Bishops Wood Centre at Crossway Green, near Stourport.

John Rhymer, secretary to Friends of Bishops Wood, said: “We were planning a tree and woodland event for February but when we heard about the new Disney film, we decided to pay tribute to the film and the origin of the stories on which the film and the Sondheim Musical of the same name are based.

“We are delighted that Storytellers from Wyre Forest U3A (University of the Third Age) are coming along to tell their own versions of these ancient folk tales.

“Together with walks and trails and craft activities there will be something for people of all ages.”

There is a suggested donation of £3 per adult and £2 per child, with concessions available for people on benefits.
