A BROMSGROVE-based gaming company is seeking thousands for a crowdfunding campaign to develop a social media platform highlighting the educational benefit of games.

EDU Gaming needs £5,000 for the platform that would bring together educators, students and gamers to share ideas and promote the use of e-learning in schools.

The company promotes awareness of game-based learning.

Among the ways it is promoted are through using the subject of a game to teach about a wider topic, by physically engaging with a lesson while playing a game such as Minecraft and through considering the skills that can be picked up from gaming culture such as programming and video production.

Josh Davies, chief executive of EDU Gaming, said: "Following talks with many students and educators, there is a distinct impression that there are a number of educators who aren’t as digitally savvy as their students.

"We hope this platform will help educators learn from students and gamers alike, and we are asking for support on our mission in helping to make education more fun and accessible for everyone."

Within just a few weeks hundreds have been raised by the crowdfunding campaign.
