A BROMSGROVE woman who took her granddaughter on a trip to Africa to support the work of a charity is hoping to take her grandson on her next trip.

Rosemary Aveyard and Xeina Aveyard travelled out to the town of Mtunthama, in Africa, to support the work of Medic Malawi - a small charity that funds a local hospital, a clinic and an orphanage for 70 children.

Rosemary's grandson Kain, a South Bromsgrove High School pupil, hopes to make the next trip with her in the summer of 2016.

This year Rosemary is trying to raise £1,000 for the charity, and events have been organised to raise the cash.

A craft fair is being held on Saturday, April 18.

The event takes place from 11am until 4pm.

There will be a number of stalls, and refreshments being held at the event taking place at Barnt Green Parish Centre, in Sandhills Road.

A second fundraising event, a family quiz, is being held on Saturday, May 9.

It takes place at the same venue from 7pm, with teams of six invited to take part.

Refreshment will be served including drinks and biscuits.

Rosemary said: "I have supported a charity called Medic Malawi which supports a project in Malawi for some years.

"The project enables a hospital, a feeding station, an orphanage and schools to support the local population.

"Kain is trying to raise £1,000 for the charity - with your support we can do it."
