A CHARITY football match will take place this weekend to raise money for a charity set up in honour of a tragic Kidderminster teenager.

On Sunday (July 5) the football match will take place between Josh’s Prayers Charity and Stourport Tesco.

The football match will kick off at 5.30pm at Areley Kings football ground.

Dean Owen, who has organised the game, said: “Tesco Stourport and I have set up a charity match in aid of Josh’s Prayers.

“I personally know Steph and Rob (Josh’s parents) and after seeing them at a loss they when they received the disbursement fee, I arranged this charity match to raise awareness for the charity.

"Tesco's team will be made up of staff members including senior managers.

"A big thank you to Areley Kings for the hire of the pitch and for putting on refreshments on the day.

Kenny Cummins, chairman of the charity, said: “Josh’s Prayers would like to personally thank Dean for organising this.

“It is great to see the local community and large companies get involved with the charity and help raise awareness and money.”

Food and drink will be available during the match, as well as a raffle, with all proceeds going to Josh’s Prayers.

The charity was created in memory of Josh Jones, an 18-year-old trainee mechanic who was killed when a car fell on top of him in May last year.

The charity was set up in Josh’s name as his legacy to raise money to financially help bereaved families who have lost young family members between the age of 16-24 in tragic circumstances.
