AFTER years in the planning, the very first Party in the Park for Cookley will finally be taking place.

With a backdrop of rollover landscape, Cookley playing fields creates a glorious setting for this very special musical extravaganza, which will get rocking on Sunday, July 12.

Bands and artists have been selected from different parts of the UK to offer a variety of music throughout the day. Among them, and flying from Spain especially for the event, are Want You Back - a tribute to Take That.

Additionally, Richie Sampson's Soul Kinda Wonderful - a tribute to The Drifters and 2013 national tribute band of the year - are set to take the stage at 6pm.

London-based five-piece Ultra 90s will perform, as will Birmingham-based band 80s Project.

More entertainment at the event also includes tributes to the Overtones, Jersey Boys, Bruno Mars and Rihanna as part of an impressive array of talent.

Cookley Sports club are organising the event, with help through sponsorship by Kidderminster-based Upfront Entertainments Agency and a number of local businesses.

Gates open at 12pm and the ever popular Ollie Hughes, who will be performing a tribute to Robbie Williams, will start the party rolling at 2pm.

Entrance to the event has been kept to a minimum with advance prices at just £5 adults or £10 family (two adults and two under 16s). Wristbands will be given so that people can come and go as they please.

Additional attractions on the day include a fun fair, craft stalls and a barbecue.
