THE spotlight has been turned on a Northwick-based dental practice which features in a range of educational children's books.

Freelance editor Rachel Blount, of Ombersley Road, Worcester, turned to her nearest dental surgery for her latest book in the Here to Help series.

Northwick Manor Dental Practice, based on Northwick Road, was more than happy to take part along with Northwick Manor Primary School pupil Livie Thomas, aged 10, and Perdiswell Primary School pupil Henry Hemming, eight.

Dentist Paul Elliott posed for pictures along with the children to explain what a dentist does and what happens at a check up.

The book series, published by Franklin Watts, is aimed at five to seven year olds and is based on people who work in the community.

Other titles look at what is involved with being a doctor, police officer, firefighter and postman.

Mrs Blount said: "They are aimed at children to show them people who helps us in the community and what their jobs involve.

"At this age, children are always thinking about what they want to be when they have grown up and these books give them an insight into what those jobs are like.

"They are also about first experiences too, especially the books about the nurse, doctor or dentist.

"It can be quite scary for a child if they are going into hospital or to the dentist for the first time so these introduce them to who they will meet and what might happen."

Here to Help - Dentist is available to buy from Amazon along with other titles in the series.
