RELUCTANT computer users are being given an opportunity to brush up their internet skills or even get online for the first time, with the ‘Get Online’ campaign, being run by Bromsgrove District council.
The campaign, which is now in its ninth year, encourages people to find out what services are at their fingertips and with more and more council services available online from housing benefit to council tax support, as well as accessing other information and communicating with friends and family, it’s becoming increasingly useful to have the skills to access them.
The campaign is running from October 12-18 at Bromsgrove’s council offices, and customer service advisors will be on hand to show people everything they need to know.
Margaret Sherrey, leader of Bromsgrove District Council, said: “Technology is moving at such a quick pace that it is hard to keep up with it.
“But like this year’s campaign is called, ‘making life easier’ being able to access the services when and how you need is important.
“The internet also provides different ways of keeping in touch with friends and family and I am pleased we’re giving our customers the opportunity to have a go at getting online – and hopefully it will not seem so daunting.”
The district council is running a number of drop in sessions at it’s customer services centres from October 12-18. For more information, call 0800 771234 or visit getonlineweek.com to find other events in the area.
