A NUMBER of reports have been made about potentially fraudulent charity collectors operating in Worcester.

Police said they are "keeping an open mind" about whether the collectors are genuine but have asked people to report any information.

Inspector Gerry Smith said: " We are investigating these matters, although I want to stress that we are keeping an open mind and there is currently no evidence that any offences have been committed.

"As part of the investigation we would like to establish the amount of money that has been donated where there is now concern that the collectors may not have been genuine."

Anyone with any information should contact the St Johns and Bedwardine Safer Neighbourhood Team and provide the following information:

* Name, address and preferred contact details.

* Time, date and location of donation.

* Amount donated. This should be the minimum amount if you are unsure how much you gave.

* Description of collector(s).
