A DISGRACED former Shipston High School teacher has been told to expect an immediate prison sentence after he admitted having a sexual relationship with a pupil under the age of 16.

Jonathan Hunt pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court on February 10 to two charges of sexual activity with a child while in a position of trust.

Hunt, 52, who at the time was head of science at the school where the girl was a pupil, also admitted meeting her following grooming, intending to do something which would be an offence under the Sexual Offences Act.

In addition the disgraced teacher pleaded guilty to three further charges of causing the teenage girl to watch a sexual act, while he was in a position of trust, for the purpose of him obtaining sexual gratification.

Judge Alan Parker said that because they were sexual offences, there would have to be a full pre-sentence report on Hunt, now of Somerset Road, Salisbury, Wiltshire.

He adjourned the case to March 11 for the report to be prepared, and Hunt was granted bail with conditions that he had no contact with the girl and no unsupervised contact with any girl under 18.

Hunt was ordered to register with the police as a sex offender within 72 hours.

And Judge Parker warned him: “The fact that I am ordering that report should not be seen by anyone as a sign that I expect you to receive anything other than a sentence of imprisonment forthwith.”
