A BEWDLEY farm is throwing open its gates to the public this Sunday, where it will offer free guided walks, as well as a chance to meet the animals.

Uncllys Farm, in Tanners Hill, will have a number of activities organised for the Open Farm Sunday on June 5, including orienteering and children’s games.

A spokesman for the farm said: “This is a great opportunity to get a fascinating insight into how we use conservation grazing to conserve the traditional orchards and wildflower meadows of the Wyre Forest and see parts of the countryside you wouldn’t normally get to see.

“Open Farm Sunday is a fantastic project which has seen hundreds of farmers across the UK opening up their farm for one Sunday each year since 2006.

“It is an opportunity for everyone, young and old, to discover at first-hand what is means to be a farmer.”

For those animal lovers, there will also be a chance to feed their chickens and meet their pigs and Kate the calf.

There will also be the opportunity to observe the art of basket making and purchase some of the handmade baskets.

The first guided walk starts at 10.30am and runs until 12.30pm, followed by a second walk between 2pm and 4pm, with visitors being advised to bring walking boots or wellies.

Refreshments such as tea and cake will be on sale, as well as a chance to taste some of the farm reared beef from their pedigree Dexter cattle.
