A POPULAR attraction in Hartlebury will be opening its doors for free to the public this September.

As part of Heritage Open Days the Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle will be open between Friday, September 9 and Sunday, September 11.

As well as free entry, there will also be a number of free activities and tours for visitors.

On Friday, September 9, visitors will be able to join a free tour of the museum stores. Lead by expert curators, the tours are designed as an opportunity to find out about Museum Worcestershire's collections, and how they are cared for.

On Saturday, September 10, the museum and castle will not only be open for free, but visitors will also be able to have an exclusive look around the bishop's rooms and can find out about the project currently underway to transform the site into a unique visitor attraction.

On Sunday, the final day of free entry, visitors can meet the castle's scullery maid, get hands-on with the collections and learn about how the museum cares for their objects.

Rachel Robinson, museum manager, added: "Heritage Open Days is always a fantastic event at Hartlebury.

"It's not only great fun but a brilliant opportunity to get to know more about what goes on behind the scenes here, and of course all for free.

"This year it'll also be one of the last chances to visit the Bishops' rooms in the Castle before they're restored as part of Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust's project."

Stores tours on September 9 will run at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm. To book a place call 01299 250416.
