KIND hearted Worcester residents are being encouraged to sign up for this year's Worcester Hearty Walk to help raise thousands for a charity appeal.

The British Heart Foundation is holding its 2017 Worcester Hearty Walk in the city on Sunday, April 30.

The event has become a popular one in recent years, last year's event raising more than £2,000.

Entrants can choose to complete either a three or six mile circular walk, both along flat gravelled paths suitable for buggies and wheelchairs.

Entrants, their children and dogs will be encouraged to wear something red, with prizes for the best costumes.

The route will be signposted, and there will be an optional trail of clues suitable for all ages to look out for with the winning entries drawn on the day.

The event is being organised by the Worcestershire BHF Fundraising Group to raise money for British Heart Foundation's Mending Broken Hearts Appeal.

Dave Hall from the group said: "The appeal helps fund ground-breaking research that could help the heart to heal itself and prevent thousands of people developing further heart problems.

“We all know someone who has been affected by heart disease, this is your opportunity to raise funds to support the research that can give them more hope for the future.

"It also promises to be a great way to get out for a morning as a family and do something fun and really worthwhile together.”

Those completing the course will be handed certificates, badges and prizes.

The check in desk opens from 9.15am, with walkers setting off between 10am and 10.30am.

Adult advance entry is available until April 23 and costs £5. After that date entry will cost £8 including on the day registrations.

Children can enter free but must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian who should complete a registration form on their behalf, which can be found online or can be completed on the day.

To guarantee a place, it is advised to register online through the BHF Website, bhf.org.uk/worcesterheartywalk, where participants can also set up a sponsorship page.
