A LEDBURY woman has been raising thousands after an impressive multi-marathon challenge.

Tess Brooks ran the Thames Path 100 mile marathon on April 28 to raise money for Community Action Ledbury.

The Ledbury mum ran a staggering 107 miles in just one day, proving one marathon distance is not enough to raise money for her chosen charity - Community Action Ledbury, of which she is chief executive.

The charity provide transport for vulnerable or rurally isolated individuals through their Ring and Ride and Minibus Services.

Money was still being counted, but it is hoped the gruelling challenge will raise £2,000 for the charity.

She originally starting running to ease her pain after falling seriously ill in her 20s with a condition that affected her peripheral nerves, but ended up falling in love with the sport.

The 39-year-old even ran everyday throughout her pregnancy, including the day her daughter was born.

“I chose to run for Community Action Ledbury because when I was recovering I needed its transport services to get to medical appointments," she said.

"I know what a lifeline these services can be for some in need.”
