AN APPEAL has been launched after a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in broad daylight in Rubery.

The assault took place on a footpath near the reservoir by Colmers School, joining with Leybrook Road, on Saturday, July 8, at around 1:45pm.

The girl was walking alone when she was approached by a man from behind and sexually assaulted.

Detective Constable James Hamilton from West Midlands Police’s public protection unit said: “This was a nasty attack in broad daylight.

“We have followed up multiple enquiries, including trawling through CCTV within the local area.

“I’d urge anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen the man or witnessed the incident to get in touch as soon as possible."

The offender is described as white and of a stocky build, in his 30s, with black hair with flecks of grey. He was wearing a blue polo top, blue jeans and brown trainers.
