RESIDENTS and shops have been rewarded for their efforts to make the town look great.

Traders decorated their windows for a display competition and locals entered a variety of Malvern in Bloom garden contest categories.

The successful candidates in the traders' window display contest were announced by Mayor Cynthia Palmer on Sunday, August 13.

The winners of the Malvern in Bloom residents' competition were also declared at the Mayor's Bonanza event in Priory Park, Malvern.

Platinum Property Agents won overall winner in the traders' window display competition, which was based on this year's theme of Wild Life.

Prizes were also awarded to Malvern's Tourist Information Centre and the Malvern Book Cooperative, while Dynastic Art, Harpers Bazaar and St Richard's Hospice, in Barnards Green, received commendations.

A number of residents also competed in the Malvern in Bloom garden competition.

Eric Simmons won the edible garden category, Martyn Dack took the prize for the best rear garden and Joan George triumphed in the front garden contest.

Rosie Browse was crowned overall winner in the competition, while Lionel and Jacky Groves, and Pat and Mike Pain were highly commended.

Horace Smith received the prize for best assisted garden and Jane Gwynn won the courtyard garden category.

Ron Hammond was also declared the winner of the hanging baskets contest.
