FARMERS in Tenbury and the Teme Valley have been labelled as heroes for the work that they did during the cold snap when the ‘beast from the East’ descended upon the area.

Tenbury Town Council and Mayor Mark Willis have sent a special message of praise to farmers who went the extra mile to help keep roads clear and the help people who got into trouble.

“Numerous farmers and contractors worked tirelessly, going above and beyond what is expected in freezing temperatures to clear the snow and make our communities safe,” said Lesley Bruton, clerk to Tenbury Town Council.

“Special thanks to our local snow heroes Tom Bemand, Rob Bemand, the Beaumont’s and Will Morgan to name but a few - your support was very much appreciated.

“Thank you to Worcestershire County Council Highways, gritting and ploughing teams who worked extremely hard around the clock in very challenging conditions to keep the roads as clear as they possibly could.

“Also a final thank you to our community for supporting each other during the bad weather from clearing snow from drives and pavements, collecting shopping and carers who continued to make their calls.”
