AN Evesham man who was recently given a suspended sentence for spitting at a police officer has been given a criminal behaviour order (CBO).

Adam Merry, 26, of Fairfield Road is now banned from behaving in any manner likely to cause alarm, harassment or distress.

This includes sending abusive and threatening text messages, voicemails or messages via social media, being aggressive or threatening towards others or using foul, abusive or racist language towards others or within hearing of others.

Merry, previously known as Trinder, is also prohibited from refusing to leave a premises or area when asked by people with the authority to do so.

The CBO will last until March 8 2021 after being given on Friday March 9.

Merry was arrested in Pershore Road after police were called to a possible burglary in February.

On arrest, Merry spat at PC Kibblewhite, with his saliva going into the officers mouth and eyes.

Merry was given a suspended prison sentence of six weeks, suspended for six months.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of £100 to the officer after admitting the charge of assaulting a police officer and obstructing a police officer.
