FOUR people have been injured - including some with stab wounds - during a youth gang attack in Redditch.

A group of ten or more youths, some of whom had their faces covered, are believed to have attacked another group with weapons.

The larger group are reported to have left in two vehicles - believed to be a Nissan Micra and a Vauxhall Zafira.

Four people are understood to have suffered injuries including stab wounds although none are life-threatening. Two males were taken to hospital with stab wounds but were subsequently released.

Police were called to Mickleton Close at around 10.45pm on Wednesday (May 23) following a report of people fighting in the street.

Officers, who will be providing reassurance patrols and speaking to people in the area over the coming days, have launched an investigation into the disorder and are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Inspector Gerry Smith said: “This was large scale disorder in a residential area. It will have undoubtedly been shocking for anyone who witnessed it.

“Fortunately, nobody was more seriously injured and we will be working hard to identify the others involved and bring them in for questioning.

“If anyone can help us to identify those involved I would urge them to call 101 quoting incident 853S of 23 May.

“Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
