RESIDENTS seeking help and advice with pain relief can join a six-week course at Bromsgrove Leisure Centre.

Following the success of the first pain relief course which were on a referral basis, the Escape Pain sessions will now open to anyone on a weekly basis.

The sessions run at 2.15pm every Thursday at Bromsgrove Leisure Centre, costing £3.30.

Cllr Peter Whittaker said: “Whilst the sessions are most suitable for people suffering from arthritis in their knees or hips, the escape pain course can help anyone who would like to find a better way to deal with pain.

"It teaches simple techniques, exercises and understanding which could help anybody whether it is back, shoulder or neck pain they are suffering with."

The programme is for people with joint and muscular pain and integrates educational self-management and coping strategies with an exercise regimen.

It helps people understand their condition, and teaches how to reduce pain, improve physical function, improve the psychosocial consequences of pain, and reduce healthcare and utilisation costs.
