A MEETING will take place to encourage people in Pershore to take-up sport.

Pershore Town Football Club will host the meeting at 7.15pm on Tuesday June 26, after carnival chairman Colin Shepherd spoke of his desire to get more people involved in sport.

Mr Shepherd said: "I have wanted to do this for a couple of years, and I want to see if there is a desire there. But I need some sporting groups to get in touch. "I want to have a sports day in the town. Ideally there would be six or more sports to choose from.

"We have a football club and a cricket club, but it could be canoeing, tag rugby, martial arts, whatever people want to do.

"It is open to people of all ages, young and old.
