A POPULAR customer services manager who has only taken one sick day in her entire career is celebrating 40 years’ service at Halesowen opticians Scrivens.

Chris Keeley started working at the family owned business as a telephonist before working her way up to her current role at Scrivens’ lens manufacturer Mersona Ltd.

Despite spending 40 years of her life at the company, the 62-year-old – who lives in Oldbury – said she plans to carry on working for another few years yet.

In recognition of her milestone anniversary, Chris was presented with gifts of a garden shed and a bird table by company chairman Nicholas Georgevic, who praised her loyalty and dedication.

Chris said: “I’ve seen many changes since I joined as a telephonist/switchboard operator, especially with the advances in technology and computers. I’ve always worked in customer services, liaising with our branches and suppliers.

“I enjoy the challenges, the satisfaction of doing my job and working with loads of good people. In all those 40 years there’s never been a day when I didn’t want to go in.”

Nicholas added: “I congratulate Chris on this fantastic achievement. She is truly dedicated to her job and popular with her colleagues.

“We are fortunate in having loyal people like Chris who play their part in the success of our business which is celebrating its own 80th anniversary this year.”
