A CONCERT performed by one of the world’s best male voice choirs is coming to the county.

Morriston Orpheus Male Choir will be singing on Saturday September 29 at Pershore Abbey from 7pm.

The event is being organised by John and Sue Fletcher from Droitwich with all proceeds will be donated to St Richard’s Hospice.

Mrs Fletcher said: “In December 2010, our son Paul died, aged just 34 years old.

"He was lovingly nursed and cared for by St Richard’s Hospice in the latter weeks of his life.

"Like all parents who lose a child, the direction of our lives has irrevocably changed. What has remained as a constant though is our endeavours to raise as much money as we can for the hospice and the invaluable service it provides to both patients and their families.”

This is the second time that Mr and Mrs Fletcher have organised such a concert; the 2016 event raised more than £5000. Their fundraising efforts also include Sue Fletcher raising £5000 through the knitting and selling of scarves.

Charlie Homer, fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice said: “John and Sue Fletcher are amazing fundraisers and we would like to thank them very much for their continued dedication and support of our work.

"The concert in September looks set to be a really uplifting and remarkable evening.”

The choir will welcome guest soprano Angharad Morgan and musical director Joy Amman Davies.

The choir was formed in 1935 and enjoys an international reputation as a leading exponent of male choral singing performing around 25 engagements a year. The choir has sung in all the major concert halls in the world including the Sydney Opera House.

Tickets cost £18 each and are available to buy from the St Richard’s Hospice website as well as its Pershore shop. Blue, in the town’s Broad Street, will also be selling tickets.
