PLANS to build three apartment blocks in Dudley have been put on hold after councillors decided to carry out a visit to investigate residents’ concerns.

Members of the authority’s Development Control Committee have shelved officers’ recommendations to grant planning permission so they can view the site for themselves.

The plans would see 15 flats built on green space sloping upwards from Dibdale Road and Salop Street.

However objectors say the open space is heavily used as a play area for children and the development would lead to increased traffic noise and parking problems.

Blakes Sheds in Salop Street - a business that has been established for 30 years - fears its use of nail gun machines and a fork lift truck, combined with high noise levels during the summer months, would attract complaints from any future residents.

South Staffs Water has also voiced concerns that land it owns adjacent to the site will attract anti-social behaviour as it will no longer be open to public view from as the development will effectively enclose it.

A decision will be made at a future meeting, once a site visit has taken place.
