FOLLOWING the success of two pain relief courses earlier this year, Bromsgrove District Council has announced it will be continuing its Escape Pain programme.

The sessions, which help residents suffering with joint or muscular pain, will run at 2.15pm for an hour every Monday and Wednesday at Bromsgrove Leisure Centre.

The classes are also open to everyone, having previously been on a referral basis only.

Health intervention officer Hayley Gwilliam said: “So far the courses have been really useful for participants and have helped them regain a more active lifestyle as a result of managing their pain. If you think you could benefit, please do get in touch.”

Escape integrates educational self-management and coping strategies with an exercise regimen to help reduce pain, improve physical function and reduce healthcare costs.

It helps people to understand their condition and takes them through a progressive exercise programme to help them cope with their pain.

The next round of sessions start on Monday, October 1, costing £3.30. Participants will need to attend two classes per week for the duration of the course in order to see the benefits.
