Martial Arts

THERE were celebrations all-round for Malvern Martial Arts’ kickboxers after a British championships.

The Leigh Sinton-based club tried out novices at Worcester’s Perdiswell Leisure Centre with the group bringing home plenty of trophies.

Ryan Holdham entered the ring for the first time in the World United Martial Arts Federation event, fighting in the under 70kgs category for full-contact kickboxing.

He established control with effective combinations, leaving his opponent on the ropes several times in the first round.

The second round saw an explosive Holdham force the referee to stop the bout within 30 seconds.

He has now been invited to fight in Spain early next year against several world contenders at his weight.
