Defeat for Ledbury

LEDBURY Rugby Club slipped into the Midlands Three West (South) relegation zone after a 30-10 defeat at Woodrush.

The promoted Ross Road side are level with third-from-bottom Southam but behind by three on points difference.

At Woodrush, the Herefordshire visitors were well in the game at half-time with the scores level at 10-10.

Both sides scored a penalty and a converted try with Ledbury’s arriving from good work by the forwards at a line-out and rolling maul.

Ledbury took command before the break and appeared to have the advantage but Woodrush dominated the second period with a stronger approach.

The third-placed Birmingham outfit scored three tries with one conversion and a penalty to ensure a winning bonus point which seemed unlikely at the interval.

Ledbury have another tough trip to the West Midlands tomorrow (3pm) when they visit mid-table Kings Norton with the match switched to Woodrush due to a firework display at their home.
