Master in return to visit town club
7:00am Tuesday 26th February 2013 in Sport
MALVERN Eskrima Club will again host a pioneer during his fourth trip to the United Kingdom next month.
Master Jun Dacayana spent two weeks as a guest of the group in 2009 when the members trained with him and held a two-day seminar.
Since his last visit, the Dacayana UK eskrima system has grown under the direction of Malvern club founder Marcie Harding.
She has travelled the country teaching the discipline and last year went to Switzerland.
Harding said: “I’ve been training in the martial arts for over 25 years and the Dacayana system has it all.
“It is a beautiful system and will appeal to everyone who wants to learn an effective martial art. It is particularly suitable to learn for women as it is not dependent on size or strength.”
Dacayana will visit Malvern for Wednesday and Friday evening training sessions and grade students with some preparing for their third degree black belts.
There will be a two-day coaches’ course at the Russell Perks Martial Arts Academy, Kidderminster, and an open seminar at Great Malvern Primary School.
