THE 2013 club and seniors championships at Bransford have both been retained by the same players.
Both tournaments are played off scratch over 36 holes and Graham Wallace repeated last year’s success when he won the main club event with two excellent rounds of 72 and 74 for a total of 146 to finish four ahead of Maks Wyard 150 (75+75).
Andrew Lammas was a further four shots away on 154 (79+75), while other leading scores were Alistair Hunt (80+75-155), Sam Jones (82+ 77-159) and Stuart Crump (81+79-160).
In the seniors event, which also incorporates a handicap championship, Ian Hamilton was again the winner.
He recorded rounds of 79 and 89 to win by eight clear shots on 168 from Rob Blake (89+87), Ferey Ghani (88+88) and Dave Houghton (87+89) — each of whom finished with a two-round total of 176.
Other leading scores were Charlie Payne (91+90-181), while Richard Steele and Mike Davidge (both 94+89) and Tony Lee (88+95) all finished on 183. The Handicap Trophy went to Ghani with Blake runner-up.
Hamilton had been in form earlier in the month when he won Division One of the Seniors’ July Stableford with 38 points, three ahead of Ivor Lloyd and June Atkinson, who both had 35.
Division Two saw three players — Alan Wallcroft, Robin Young and Clarice Knowles — tie for first on 36 points, but victory went to Wallcroft on count-back, while Mike Holmes (40) won Division Three with Malcolm Bradley (37) and Stan Parnell 35.
The Seniors July Medal produced the following results — Division One: George Batty 91-19=72, John Phillips 95-19=76 and Bob McGrath 93-16=77. Division Two: John Knowles 92-22=70, Anne Hamilton 93-23=70 and Dave Miller 93-20=73.
Division Three: Bradley 97-25=72, John Burrow 102-28=74 and Mike Kemp 105- 28=77.
The recent tinder-dry conditions helped produce several good scores in the fourth round of the section’s Summer Stableford League.
Bob McGrath led the way in Division One with 41 points, one ahead of George Batty with Mario Eastham on 39 and Jeff Thomas 37.
The scores in the other divisions were — Division Two: Adrian Wood 40, Brian Lawrence 38, and Neil Sheldon and Wallcroft both 35. Division Three: Mike Holmes 41, Rob Walker 37, and Malcolm Bradley and Robin Brighton both 36.
As for the latest club matches, Bransford Seniors lost 6½-½ at Henley-in-Arden.
