TWO teams of eight Malvern Joggers runners tackled the Adidas Thunder 24-hour relay in south Derbyshire.

The outfits, named Seymore Butts and Chaffing The Dream, took on 10-kilometre laps of Catton Hall Park around the clock.

On the morning, some team members decided to do the park run beforehand ahead of facing three teams from Black Pear Joggers, Worcester, and Marathon Talk.

Malvern battled the elements as well in their third visit to the event which kicked off in blazing sunshine.

The competitors were wilting in the heat before the heavens opened and unleashed thunder, lightning and heavy rain which turned the course into a mudbath.

After a period of slipping and sliding in the dark, the weather cleared again and the sun came out.

Both teams performed admirably, completing 22 and 23 gruelling laps respectively, and they all vowed to return next year.
