THE Malvern St James Girls’ School under 16s stormed into this season in a blaze of glory, winning both the Herefordshire and Worcestershire county competition and the Independent Schools Association (ISA) under 16 girls’ six-a-side tournament.
In the annual Herefordshire and Worcestershire event, which took place at Bromsgrove School, the MSJ team beat The Chase School 4-0 and King’s Worcester 2-0, before playing Bromsgrove in the semi-finals and claiming a 1-0 win.
They then faced local rivals Malvern College in a tense final. Following a goalless draw, the competition went into penalty flicks and victory for Malvern St James.
The MSJ under 16 team now go through to the regional hockey finals in November.
The under 16 team’s winning streak began with a clean-sweep victory at this year’s annual national ISA seven-a-side competition, which took place at St Edward’s School, Cheltenham.
