Hewitt and Salisbury in form for Ramblers rout

MALVERN League Division One championship holders CSSC Ramblers continued their fine form with a 9-1 victory against Crackpots ‘E’ thanks to maximums from Chris Hewitt and Alan Salisbury.
Dave Steen secured Crackpots’ sole success, winning in straight sets against Graham Thompson. Colin Dolding fought bravely against Salisbury, before losing 13-11 in the fifth set.
In Division Two, Travellers consolidated their leagueleadership with a 7-3 victory against Scuttling Gang.
The win was achieved by a maximum from Toby Wren, together with a doubles success with Martin Snee, who also contributed two singles victories, while Ken Hipwell won once. Richard McKenna (2) and Ray Davies (1) replied for Scuttling Gang.
Dynamos defeated fellow Poolbrook team, Wanderers, 7-3 by virtue of three singles victories for Tom James and John Phillips and one from Geoff Burford. Dave Bradley and Rob Weston secured singles wins for Dynamos.
In the doubles Weston and Charlie Burford’s experience showed in their defeat of Geoff Burford and James.
CSSC Nomads enjoyed an excellent 9-1 success against Upton Floods thanks to three wins each for Dave Hayes and Tony Hughes and two for Geoff Davies.
Roger Davies contributed Upton’s sole success in his match against Geoff Davies.
Manor Park Devils continued their strong start to the Division Three season with a 10-0 whitewash against Abbey College, with three victories for Paul Lythgoe, Liz Hallam and new signing Ralph Cook. Crackpots ‘B’ defeated Abbeydowne 10-0 with three wins each for Ted Cates, Matt White and Alan Forsdyke.
Malvern Tornados defeated Manor Park Crackpots 7-3, thanks again to a maximum from Andy Banks, two wins for Ethan Webb and one for Dominic Weston.
Stephen Lindner replied with two for Crackpots and there was a win from Ed Palmer too. Webb and Weston also enjoyed a creditable five-set victory in the doubles against the experienced Linder and Palmer.
Crackpots ‘D’ defeated Poolbrook Panthers 9-1 with maximums from Bob Rhodes and James Palmer and two victories for Tim Dolding.
Panthers’ victor was Collette James.
