A GOAL two minutes from time ended defiant Leigh and Bransford Badgers Spurs’ resistance in Mercian Festival Junior League Under 14s Division One.
Defending league champions Worcester Youth boasted an unbeaten record this season but found the Spurs back four in solid form, aided by confident keeper Dan Eyles.
The home midfield battled gamely throughout, particularly Sam Hawthorn and player-of-the-match Dan Medakovic.
Both Hawthorn and Josiah Heath saw efforts cleared off the line, while a Youth raid down the right ended in the only goal which took a deflection.
- Ledbury Town’s West Midlands League Division One clash at Gornal Athletic Reserves was abandoned after 62 minutes due to floodlight failure.
James Febery was forced to exit the game after just 10 minutes with a groin injury before the scoreline stood at 3-2 to Gornal at the time of the shock decision.
Jamie Welch and Dan Herbert were on target for Ledbury but the game will have to be replayed.
- Bromyard Town lost their seventh straight Premier Division game, crashing 5-0 at high-flying Black Country Rangers on Tuesday following a 4-2 home weekend defeat to Ellesmere Rangers.
Ellesmere scored three goals in the first 29 minutes but forward Richard Burgess hit back with a brace. However, Bromyard’s Ashley Morris was dismissed for his second booking on 66 minutes.
