  • A late Jamie Welch penalty earned Ledbury Town Reserves a well-deserved 3-3 draw with Herefordshire League Division One leaders Tenbury United.

Karl Lancett’s usual second string were bolstered by several first-teamers due to a postponed fixture at local rivals Hereford Lads Club.

Against opponents protecting a 100 per cent league record, Welch fired home inside the first minute before he went close to a second along with Tom Watkins and Curt Williams.

Home keeper Nicholas Blakeway was only called into action four minutes from half-time with a fine save before Tenbury levelled moments before the break.

After more missed Ledbury chances, they regained the lead in the 64th minute with Watkins’ fine finish from a Welch cross.

However, Tenbury equalised barely a minute later from a rebound following a good Blakeway save.

The visitors went ahead for the first time with a 74thminute header but Ledbury levelled this time in the late stages through Welch’s controversial spot-kick after Watkins was ruled to have been fouled.
