A POWERFUL performance earned Ledbury amateur prospect Kevin Florence a victory over Jordan Marshall in his own backyard.

The home fighter from Pontyberem, near Llanelli, Wales, was beaten by a unanimous decision awarded to the Herefordshire competitor nicknamed Golden Boy.

Florence impressed in a comfortable first round before producing a flawless second and then picking up the pace even further in the third.

Coach and father Fred Florence said: “A big well done to Kevin. He gave age and weight away and boxed him in his own town.

“He showed his speed and power is increasing and his 23rd bout showed he is ready for the junior championships in April.

“Like I always say, Kevin will box anybody in the world and, as we have shown, we will come to them.

“I would like to thank all my boxers for their time and dedication.

“I will try not to let them down as a coach so keep up the good work.”

Anybody over the age of 10 is welcome to Fred Florence’s box-fit class, starting on January 6, and there is one-to-one personal training available.

He added: “You will train like a boxer with no physical contact. I have 10 years’ experience training boxers so now I am offering my time and knowledge to help others.

“It doesn’t matter how fit you are or how lazy you are, how big you are or how small you are.”
