A SECOND-half double sentenced Malvern Town to a 2-0 West Midlands Football League Premier Division defeat at seventh- placed Cradley Town.

Les Jones’ side started with the wind in their favour and Louis Loader’s eighth-minute free-kick was glanced on by Lee Hooper but clipped a defender and hit the bar.

Malvern struggled to get to grips with the wind and constantly overplayed the ball but were not helped by an enthusiastic assistant referee, who flagged for plenty of offside decisions.

Cradley’s Martin Hill hit the post close to half-time but the hosts went ahead seven minutes into the second period when Lee Salmon headed over keeper Charles Weaver.

In the 64th minute, the unmarked Christopher Bladen tapped home a second goal from a Cradley free-kick.

Malvern will entertain Ledbury Town on January 8, in the Worcester Royal Infirmary Senior Cup and Bromsgrove Sporting on January 15, in the Worcestershire FA Senior Urn.
