PUPILS at Colwall’s The Elms School enjoyed a fine term of sports, particularly in rugby union and hockey.

The rugby first team won every single match in 15 and seven-a-side, embarked on a successful tour of Scotland and clinched two tournament wins.

Their Pinewood Sevens success in Wiltshire was particularly impressive, despite being the smallest of the 16 schools taking part.

During the campaign, The Elms welcomed visiting coaches, including Paul Westgate from Uppingham School and former British Lion John Bevan.

They were watched by at least three other internationals, including 2003 World Cup winner Trevor Woodman.

Every boy regularly represented the school and the teams enjoyed a 70 per cent winning record overall.

The Elms also enjoyed a busy term of hockey and impressed at school level after a successful tour of the south-west.

They competed in the south-west regionals and qualified for March’s nationals at Millfield as well as winning tournaments at Cheltenham Ladies’ College and the In2Hockey Tournament at Leominster.

The under 11s ‘A’ team won five out seven tournaments, playing against larger schools while demonstrating skill and determination.

Their ‘B/C’ side also took eight out of nine school matches.
