THE Worcester Evening League elected a new chairman during their annual meeting at Malvern’s Barnards Green club.

Mark Chappell, from the Rushwick club, has taken over the reins for the forthcoming year.

The league also have a new results secretary in Barnards Green first XI scorer Kath Wood.

Treasurer Peter Taylor reported the league to be in a fairly healthy position with a small operating profit recorded.

The two league winners, Worcester and Martley, were not present to receive their trophies.

Secretary Bill Tansell said the new second XI trophy had been dedicated to Tim Granger.

The league’s former fixture secretary and umpires appointments officer passed away in February.

Meanwhile, the closing date for applications to join the league next season is Friday, January 31.

  • On Monday, January, 20 there will be a general meeting of Worcestershire Cricket Board Limited at New Road, Worcester, to appoint the club cricket development director.

They will also hold a club workshop and seminar afterwards at 7.30pm aimed at exploring the potential benefits of Community Amateur Sports Club Status (CASC).
