JUST three matches survived the weather in the McDonald’s Worcester and District League as frozen pitches compounded problems with waterlogged venues.

In the games played, Malvern Rangers travelled to Hornets and came away with a 2-0 Division Two win.

In a drab first-half, chances were few and far between with Lee Ruff in the Hornets goal comfortably dealing with anything thrown at him as Rangers gradually got on top.

Dave Reynolds eventually broke the deadlock just after the interval when he tapped in from five yards. The same player made the game safe with a 20-yard drive that flew into the top corner of the net in the 80th minute.

In Division Three, Hylton Road Rovers entertained Hangover as Lee King, Russell White and Dean Barmby all bagged braces for the visitors in a 7-3 success.

John Murphy was also on the scoresheet for Hangover with Rovers’ goals coming from Greg Lord, Richard Price and James Nicholls.

Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves moved away from the relegation zone in Division Four with a 8-1 win over Trinity Sports.

Matthew Purser (4), James Willis (2), Tom Wells and Mike Sealey scored the goals with Chris Waldron netting a consolation.
