WORCESTER Nomads 'A' topped Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Worcester Division One with a five-wicket win over Martley.

Relegated basement boys Martley were restricted to 95-5 before Nomads reached 96-1 with two overs left.

The Bransford side, who have 12 points, hope rivals, Cutnall Green and Old Elizabethans (both 10), lose their final matches on Sunday.

Martley’s innings was littered with run-outs as only Tom Clement (29) and Dom Buxton (15) resisted against hostile bowling from Rich Henry (1-10) and Liam O’Driscoll (1-20).

Lewis Austin (9) departed in the second over to a catch at mid-on but Henry (25 not out) and O’Driscoll (27no) guided Nomads towards victory in the 10th over.

In the other game, RGS Worcester (127-5) beat Wor-cester Dominies (125-5) by two runs.

Cutnall Green play Nomads 'B' on Sunday, while OEs tackle Droitwich 'A'.

The top two progress to the county finals.

Avoncroft (119-5) clinched the Division Two title after defeating Malvern (91 all out) by 28 runs.

Malvern lost their unbeaten record but, after some years without a win, this season has seen big progress, although their bowling resources remain thin.

Favourites Avoncroft started nervously and were grateful for 13 Malvern wides in the first two overs.

But the innings progressed well until Mark Whitehead (16) was caught and bowled by Steve Lake in the sixth over with the score on 53.

Will Sach then added 17, Tom Murray 22 and Ben Warwick 16, while the wides shot up to 34.

Malvern faced an uphill struggle after Ash Jones was run-out from the eighth ball of the innings.

Andy Cullen (37) and Anthony Arnold (16) took no unnecessary risks until a misunderstanding caught them both at the same end.

Cullen, who carried his bat through 12 overs, was run-out with two balls remaining.

Bromsgrove (105-5) lost to Rushwick (106-4) on the last ball.

West Malvern look for the runners-up spot on Monday against Nomads 'C'.
