HANLEY Swan failed to move off the bottom of Cheltenham Association League Division One after a 2-2 home draw with Star Reserves having been two goals up.

The opening was even with both teams playing attacking football and the keepers making good saves.

Midway through the half, Hanley went ahead when Adam Webb headed in Matt Atkinson's free-kick.

The hosts produced fine passing football in the second period and added another deserved goal when James Newland nodded in another Atkinson free-kick.

But Newland's well-taken penalty was then saved by the Star keeper and the visitors struck with a free-kick from the edge of the box.

Another defensive error gifted Star the ball in the penalty area and they made no mistake to level.

Hanley host Kings on Saturday, while Upton Town visit AC Olympia (both 3pm).

Meanwhile, Alfie Owen scored as Welland lost 2-1 at Leckhampton Rovers in Division Three. They host Brockworth Albion Reserves on Saturday (3pm).
