STORRIDGE trainer Tim Eades hopes for more success with The Magherally Man at Clifton-on-Teme point-to-point on Saturday from 2pm.

The challenging course at Upper Sapey, near Bromyard, has staged races for 30 years.

There is a healthy entry of 16 for the Mixed Open, including Ned the Post and Noble Ben, who have both shown form over the course.

Eades has enjoyed a successful season, especially with The Magherally Man who can go close if he reproduces the form shown at Brampton Bryan.

Before the War won over course and distance last year but faces a stiffer task this time, while Duke Special could either pull up or win.

Quatuor Collonges has not appeared much this season but always shows his best form at this time of year.

Tom Weston and Mark Wall are battling for the riders' championship and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top – Wall on Presentandcorrect or Weston on Star of Massini.

Weston can increase his points tally in the Restricted. Troubled finally opened his account at Bitterley, which gives him a fighting chance against Cecile De Volanges and Upton Venture.

Western Goose caught the eye with a speedy victory at Coldharbour, which will stand him in good stead.

Twenty horses are in the Novice Riders race, including last year’s runner-up Clew Bay Cove. He holds Hall Kelly on that running but Abi Banks is a more experienced jockey now, while The Rubber Man has a lot to do to turn round the form from last year.

Tempelpiriate was beaten into second place when attempting to win his eighth race of the season last weekend which may be an indication he is going over the top.

Following Rhys Jenkins' retirement, Stan Sheppard is expected to team up with the Eastnor-trained Oedipe and the course could bring out the best in him.

Joe Drinkwater and Working Title need to be at their best and may provide the answer in the tricky contest.

There is little between Soutine and Flying Gnu, according to the form book, in the Intermediate.

But the mares' allowance is expected to tip the scales in Flying Gnu’s favour.

Jock Des Mottes won at the meeting last season, while Minella for Party is another for the shortlist.
