FORMER ladies’ captain Di Wilde swept the board when she followed a morning victory in The Worcestershire's prestigious Members’ Cup by winning the afternoon’s 10-hole stableford.

Wilde recorded a nett 72 in the medal round, one stroke ahead of second-placed Kate Foster and Vanessa Chesterton, who both finished on 73.

In the afternoon, her fine form continued with 22 points, five ahead of Betty Hakes (17). Cathy Harris took the Hollins Putting Cup with 30 putts.

The men played their midweek medal with the winners of both divisions recording nett 68.

However, Division One winner Chris Jolley, playing off a handicap of 10, won by the bigger margin, three strokes ahead of Simon Phillips (handicap 12), Andy Longley (5) and Tom Howells (3), all on 72.

Tighter scoring in Division Two saw Trevor Simmons (20) edge out Barry Tuck (21), Martin Field (21) and Simon Penrhyn (17), all on 69.

In inter-club matches, Jill Piner’s The Worcestershire team lost 3-2 at Kidderminster despite a strong fight.

In a tense finish, the result went down to the last putt on the 18th green.

Other team members were Liz Evans, Jackie Marks, Pauline Belsham and Pat Rose.

Club captain Roger Brierly fielded a strong men’s team against Worcestershire ladies and secured a 3-1 victory.

Brierly and Nick Smith won 2&1, Phil Birch and Richard Sebok 3&2 and Mark Read and Steve Carter 4&3.

Karen Greenfield and Lesley Fox beat Steve Bradshaw and Lee Whittal.
