TWO brothers starred as Burghill and Tillington cruised to the top of Worcestershire Cricket League Division Two with a 163-run thrashing of Malvern.

Owen Morgan (110 not out) and Barney Morgan (78) were in the runs as the villagers won by 163 runs against third-from-bottom Malvern in one of only four matches in the league to beat the wet weather.

The visitors took early advantage of winning the toss by quickly dismissing Ed Oliver and Edward Symonds.

But the Morgan brothers moved the score on and, with Tim Walsh also contributing 56 and Mark Preece an unbeaten 28, the hosts were able to declare after 47 overs on 313-5.

When Malvern replied, Walsh swiftly effected a run-out to send back Rhys Humm (2).

Skipper Andy Cullen compiled 41 to keep alive his side’s hopes of avoiding defeat with Lewis Hill adding 25 and Stephen Lake 28.

But off-spinner Ben George (4-45) and Barney Morgan (2-30) chipped away as Malvern, who host Bewdley tomorrow (1pm), were dismissed for 150.

Burghill & Tillington moved a point clear of Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social at the top.
