WORCESTER Warriors’ director of rugby Dean Ryan says Mike Williams’ knee problem is “not much to worry about”.

Williams is awaiting the results of a knee scan after a collision that led to him being stretchered off against Nottingham.

The powerful back row missed Saturday’s convincing 47-7 victory at Rotherham Titans in the Greene King IPA Championship.

Ryan said: “There’s not much to worry about apart from some dental work and concussion with regard to Mike. There are some issues with his knee but nothing that we won’t clear up in the next couple of weeks.”

That means Williams should be fit for the next league game at home to Bedford on Friday, November 7.

Ryan was impressed with the young players, like props Val Rapava Ruskin and Mike Daniels, who stepped up to the mark at Clifton Lane.

“Ruskin is lively — he was a back rower so we had to work on some of his scrum techniques,” said Ryan.

“We know he can jump around but he has to be able to hold a scrum. With Nick Schonert missing, we had to keep pushing players out.

“It was Mike Daniels’ first start in the Championship and that was against one of the bigger packs we will come up against.

“Darren O’Shea was incredibly mature and young Perry Humphreys on the wing looked really comfortable.

“Suddenly, Ben Howard looks quite mature and he’s playing out of his skin. We’ve got one of England’s full-backs at our club and have not been hurt by his absence.

“James Stephenson was someone who might have got a chance at Rotherham but he got hurt in training, so we told Perry he would be in and he didn’t look out of place.”

Warriors’ Leonardo Senatore scored a try as Argentina beat Australia 21-17. Senatore and fellow international Agustin Creevy return to Sixways later this month.
