LEDBURY Town Reserves gained quick revenge for defeat to Bromyard with a 5-1 thrashing in the Herefordshire FA Junior Cup semi-finals.

Bromyard had won 2-1 at New Street the previous week to enhance their The Hereford Times Herefordshire League Division One title credentials.

Joint Ledbury managers Phil Preedy and Roly Welch welcomed back prolific striker Dan Herbert from Malvern Town and he responded with four goals.

The Bromyard keeper was put under early pressure after a strong start from the hosts, who went ahead on nine minutes.

Defender Carl Wildig’s free-kick was met in the box by the head of Herbert, allowing captain Jamie Welch to strike home on the follow-up.

Ian Jennings was replaced with an early head injury before Herbert marked his return in spectacular style.

He performed a classy turn and strike in the 21st minute to catch the Bromyard keeper off-guard.

Herbert struck again on the half-hour, firing home after his initial effort was deflected off the arm of a defender.

He tapped the ball in for his hat-trick after just 39 minutes when Welch headed against the post.

Welch knocked the ball on for Herbert to add a fourth goal on the hour.

Steve Corbett put away a consolation following a 65th-minute corner before Bromyard substitute Matt Beale’s free-kick skimmed the crossbar.

Teenage Ledbury keeper Elliot Watts saved from Beale before the end. Town will head to Tenbury Town for the final and host Orleton Colts Reserves in the Herefordshire FA Burghill Cup quarter-finals tomorrow (1.30pm).
