DEPLETED Ledbury battled bravely at Kidderminster Carolians in a 15-13 North Midlands Under-17s League rugby defeat.

Cameron Hunter scored two tries for the teenagers with Dan Smith adding a penalty.

Ledbury, missing players through injuries and Midlands trials call-ups, went into half-time 13-10 up.

But the solitary score of the second-half went to Kidderminster.

Ledbury’s defensive tackling and incessant scrapping on their line were highlights.

Captain Hunter created havoc with astute kicking, deft dodging and smart tactics as he set up and scored two tries.

But they were both finished off out wide, making for difficult conversions before Smith came good with a fine penalty shortly before half-time.

Ledbury’s pack performed well in the set-pieces although but the line-outs were more even.

Marcus Letori, Ollie Jones and Rory Bateson won ball but Carolians defended well and bagged a winning second-half try.

They also suffered suffering an injury that resulted in the precautionary arrival of an air ambulance.

Ledbury lost 55-5 to Sutton Coldfield the previous week with Rob Law-Eadie scoring their only try.
