THERE was a major shock in the second round of the McDonald’s Worcester and District League’s Katherine Rayer Cup.

Holders WCT Raiders crashed out 5-3 after extra-time to Callow End in the second round.

Sam Black fired a treble and Jon Mann a double for the villagers, while Jamie Insall (2) and Andy Bullock replied for WCT.

Elsewhere, Malvern Radar hammered Kempsey 7-0 with Lewis Platt cracking a hat-trick alongside goals from Jon Dovey (2) and Daniel Hunt.

Droitwich Spa Eagles were 3-1 down, with 10 minutes to go against lower-ranked The Gloster Arms but fought back to win 4-3.

Mike Seeley grabbed the last-minute winner for Eagles after James Badham (2) and Daniel Stowe scored for the Malvern side, who had Dean Drinkwater sent off.

In the Southam Trophy, Freemasons Arms thrashed Malvern Rangers 12-0, as Tom Mason found the net four times and Paul Thompson notched a hat-trick.

VBL Sports are also through to the quarter-finals, with Aaron Davis bagging two in their 3-0 home win over Powick.

Garry Price netted four times as trophy favourites Perrywood Reserves won 5-2 at Ale Madrid.

Malvern’s Falcons made progress with a 2-0 success over Hornets, thanks to goals from James Lush and Christopher Parker.

Colwall Village were edged out 1-0 at home to Clifton Rovers.

In this weekend’s fixtures, third-placed Malvern Radar return to Sunday Premier Division action at home to Perrywood.

Division Two fixtures see Ale Madrid tackle Hornets and Falcons entertain neighbours Powick.

Colwall Village host Malvern Mans in Division Three, while Colwall St James head to Whitehall.

DM Upton are at home to Hallow Reserves in Division Four.

Meanwhile, Bromyard Colts remain two points ahead at the top of the Herefordshire Sunday League Northern Division.

They won 6-0 at Royal Oak following their 18-0 hammering of the basement boys the previous weekend.

The league now takes a break for Christmas and new year.

Redmarley defeated Riverside Sports 2-1 in Gloucester and District Sunday League Division Two.

In Saturday football, Malvern Vale thrashed Sherborne Harriers 11-0 in Cheltenham Association League Division Six.

Daniel Stowe scored four goals with Aaron Griffiths (3), Ashley Jones (2), Chris King and Jordan Stimson on target.

Vale are second in the table and host Prestbury Rovers Reserves tomorrow at Malvern Vale Community Centre (2pm).

Second-from-bottom Newent Town crashed 5-0 at high-flying Sharpness in Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One.

They visit third-placed Hardwicke tomorrow (2pm) and are level on points with Dursley Town above them but just behind on goal difference.

All the other games for Town in the North Gloucestershire Association League were postponed.
