A LATE equaliser from substitute Sean Smith secured a 1-1 draw for leaders Malvern Radar at a much-improved Brewers side in the McDonald’s Worcester and District League Sunday Premier Division.

With Radar missing influential centre-half Alex Wren, a reshuffle of their midfield left them exposed to slick passing moves from the hosts – who were hungrier for victory and quicker to the ball in almost all departments.

Reece King won several important challenges at the back to keep Radar in the game, as both sides failed to threaten in the danger areas and it was no surprise to see a 0-0 scoreline at half-time.

Brewers took a deserved lead after pulling the defence apart and, if not for another fine display from Radar’s young keeper Josh King, they would have been well beaten.

However, urged on by their coaching team and travelling supporters, Radar battled to the end and Smith scrambled a late equaliser to salvage something from a forgettable encounter.

With games in hand over the leaders, Hallow moved into third place after a 5-2 home win over Callow End, who netted through Jon Mann.

Malvern side Falcons and Perrywood Reserves will contest the Southam Trophy final.

James Lush notched a double with Mark Holbrow and Matt Turner also on target, as Falcons eased past Clifton Rovers 4-0.

Malvern Rangers won their Division Two local derby with Ale Madrid 2-1. Lewis Doyle and Ben Jackson scored for Rangers with Lee Flanagan replying for Madrid.

Colwall Village are making a late bid for promotion from Division Three after defeating Freemasons Arms 4-3.

Mark White hit a hat-trick and Jack Parker also struck in their third successive victory.

The Gloster Arms, who beat Worcester Raiders 4-1 in Division One, will face Perrywood in the Worcester Nursing Sunday Junior Cup final.
