THE sixth and final round of Bransford seniors’ stableford winter league produced plenty of drama.

Mike Davidge took the Division One title by just one point as did Paul Edlin in Division Two.

Davidge (17 handicap) finished sixth in the last round with 33 points, equalling the third of his best three scores that count in the competition for a total of 109.

But this was almost beaten by Bill Bowen (20), who made a gallant effort in his last three rounds with 35, 36 and 37 to fall one short on 108.

Richard Steele (12) managed 106, Trevor Atkinson (14)105, Roy Williams (19) 104, Ferey Ghani (14) 103 and Mike Weaver (17) 101.

Bowen was also pipped for top spot in the final round as Atkinson claimed first place on count-back.

Steele scored 36, Ghani 35, Williams 34, Davidge 33 and Rob Wetton (21) 32.

Division Two’s final round produced a runaway win for Roger Steade but Edlin still secured overall success.

Steade, whose handicap dropped from 26 to 23, fired 43, while Edlin was further down the field on 28.

Edlin totalled 110 in front of Steade 109, Dave Miller (22) 108, Andrew Jarvis (26) 106, Wallcroft (19) 105 and John Knowles (23) 103.

In the round, Steade’s 43 beat John Hadley (28) 38, Miller and Jarvis 34, Robin Brighton (26) 34 and Mike Kenway (28) and Neil Hide (21) 32.
